With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to perform the age old ritual of spring cleaning. For centuries, the coming of spring has meant opening the windows, airing out the house and allowing warmth and light to flood in. But besides the cleaning of your home and your space, you should also think about the cleaning of your body.
The spring equinox is a powerful time to embark on a cleanse to give your body a much needed reset after the cold, dark days of winter. In Ayurvedic medicine, spring signals the traditional time of year for cleansing and renewal. This means that we should incorporate cleansing to bring lightness to the body after the heavy, warming foods that we have typically consumed during the winter months.
This hearty, healthy soup is the perfect way to ring in spring! It’s packed full of nutritional goodness and will have you feeling light in no time at all. It can be enjoyed as an addition to your current diet or for some extra healing power, you can combine it with the Brown Rice Diet. Combining this soup with the Brown Rice Detoxification Diet is a great way to kick start the beginning of a clean eating habit that will give your body a huge vitality boost over the coming months.
If you are looking for some extra, extra healing power, this soup can also be used on its own to embark on a three day cleanse before starting the Brown Rice Detoxification Diet. For three days, treat yourself to this soup, Warming Lemon Ginger Tea and Green Juice Goodness. If a mostly liquid cleanse is a bit too much for you, you have the option of adding in one meal a day at dinner time. This meal should be lean and clean, which means greens and a source of protein to keep you happy and full. Following this for three days is a way to give your digestive system the ultimate break and in turn, will allow your body to focus on healing from the inside out. Remember to always consult with your naturopath or doctor before embarking on this type of cleanse.
